Notre Dame moves to ACC

Notre Dame gains the best of both worlds as they announce their move from the Big East to the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) in every sport except football and hockey.  The Fighting Irish will maintain their independent status in football but will play five games against ACC teams each year. Notre Dame will also have access to the Orange Bowl and the ACC’s non-BCS bowls. Notre Dame will rejoin former Big East basketball rivals Syracuse and Pittsburgh.  The exit date from the Big East is still in negotiations.  The ACC will have acquired six schools from the Big East including Miami, Virginia Tech and Boston College, in its 15-school expansion.
