The Atlanta Falcons are the only undefeated team in the NFL. As they improved their record to 7-0 for the first time in the franchise’s 47-year history; Coach Mike Smith became the first coach in Falcons history to record 50 wins since arriving to Atlanta in 2008.
There were also some other “firsts” in the game against the Philadelphia Eagles:
- The Falcons won in Philadelphia for the first time since October 30, 1988
- The Eagles got their first sack in four games since Week 3
- Asante Samuel’s first return to Philadelphia since the Eagles traded him for a 7th round draft pick
- Drew Davis got his first catch and first touchdown for his first appearance in a regular NFL season game
- Eagles (3-4) lost after a bye for the first time in 14 games under coach Andy Reid since 1999
The Falcons are enjoying the moment and staying focused on the task at hand. Next week the Dallas Cowboys will come to the Georgia Dome after a disappointing loss to their division rival New York Giants.
