It only took one season for the Boston Red Sox to know that Bobby Valentine was not the right choice for their clubhouse. Valentine was fired the day after the finale of a very disappointing season. Instead of restoring order to the clubhouse, things only got worse. In Valentine’s only year in Boston; the team’s record was 69-93, the ball club’s worst in almost 50 years.
Valentine said in a statement released by the team, ”I understand this decision… This year in Boston has been an incredible experience for me, but I am as disappointed in the results as are ownership and the great fans of Red Sox Nation. … I’m sure next year will be a turnaround year.”
